Боб Марли – исполнитель, композитор в стиле регги с Ямайки. Появился на свет в 1945-м в Найн-Майлс. Отцом Боба был европеец-офицер, несший службу на Ямайке, где он и познакомился с его матерью - ямайской девушкой. В конце 50-х Марли, подобно многим ямайским провинциальным жителям, переехал с матерью в столицу страны - Кингстон. После школы Боб зарабатывал на жизнь рабочей профессией, внеурочные часы посвящая занятиям музыкой. Когда Марли исполнилось 18 лет, состоялся его дебют с песней «Judge Not».
В начале 60-х Боб создал коллектив The Wailers, и их первая же композиция стала хитом номер один на Ямайке. Хоть команда и была востребована, в 1966-м она прекратила свое существование. Какое-то время Боб трудился в Соединенных Штатах Америки простым рабочим, но скоро возвратился на родину и возродил The Wailers.
